Bergoz Beam Charge Monitors, BCM

The BCM-IHR (Integrate-Hold-Reset) measures the total beam charge of pulsed beams for pulse repition rates from 10kHz down to single pulses. It has a bipolar voltage output that is directly proportional to the total beam charge. For applications requiring measurements of pulse repitions from 5kHz to 10MHz see the BCM-CA (Contnious Averaging). An Integrating Current Transformer (ICT) integrates the charge of pulses having width from less than a picosecond to more than a microsecond.

Specially developed hybrid circuits then amplifly the charge and integrate it with low noise and high linearity. A built-in Calibration Generator provides on-line assurance of measurement reliability.

The Beam Charge Monitor used to measure charge or current from an ICT or an Inf-flange ICT.

  • On circulating machines, the stored beam current is measured with better than 10nA rms resolution.
