Applications Engineer, Magnetic Sensor and Transducers
GMW is seeking an exceptional Applications Engineer to collaborate with existing and potential Customers to develop solutions to their measurement and control requirements utilizing the range of magnetic based Sensors, Transducers and Instruments offered by GMW. GMW has Industrial, Laboratory and University Customers working in electrical power conversion, electrical storage, electric vehicles, medical equipment, and fundamental research. The Applications Engineer will work with potential Clients by telephone, email and in person at the Customer's site or at Trade Shows. To demonstrate a potential solution may require magnetic modeling, implementing a circuit or instrument suggestion, or on-site measurements.
Desirable Qualifications and Capabilities for this position:
The desire to listen to a Client and accurately determine their requirements.
Knowledge of the physics of electricity and magnetism from dc to about 100MHz based on a Degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics and practical experience in electrical equipment design and electrical measurements.
Proficiency in 2D (or 3D) magnetic modeling and 2D (or 3D) mechanical modeling to demonstrate and document suggested solutions.
Experience in the design and implementation of analog interface circuits for sensors to enable the design and production of an evaluation assembly or kit for evaluation.
Knowledge of digital processing, filtering and averaging of analog signals to achieve the desired accuracy, resolution and frequency response performance.
The ability to generate Presentations of Solutions, Models, and Test Data that can be provided to Customers, posted on the GMW web site, presented at Conferences or published.
GMW is a Distributor and Manufacturer of high performance Magnetic Sensors and Instruments for the measurement of magnetic field and the non-intrusive measurement of electric current.
This Applications Engineer position is at GMW's facility in San Carlos, CA, mid-way between San Francisco and San Jose and is supported by experienced Engineers and a well-equipped demonstration, test and calibration laboratory. It is an opportunity for an Engineer who enjoys working with Vendors and Customers to develop solutions. Travel to Europe and within North America to meet Vendors and Customers and to attend Conferences will be up to about eight weeks per year.
